To provide an organisation for ASEAN Accountants for the further advancement of the status of the profession in the region with the view to establishing an ASEAN philosophy on the accounting profession.
The Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants (IAI) will host a series of events to celebrate its 58th Anniversary. The events will be commenced with the IAI - IFAC International Seminar on 16 November 2015, at the Balai Kartini, Jakarta. This seminar will be held in conjunction with the the first ever visit of IFAC President, Ms. Olivia Kirtley to Jakarta. During this historic moment, IAI will also host a meet & greet session with representatives of the Indonesian accounting students.
The international seminar will highlight the opportunity and threats brought by advancement in information, communication, and technology (ICT) toward business society in Indonesia. Terms like social media, cloud computing, big data, and so forth has become daily business buzzwords; hence accounting profession as inseparable parts of business world must not overlook these trends. In other way, these digital technology has continuously transformed various form of businesses from physical existence into collaboration that can improve overall productivity and quality.
This series of event is expected to be attended by 1,000 professional accountants from various background and 500 accounting students in Indonesia. The Chairman of IAI National Council as well as the Vice Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Mardiasmo will officially open the seminar. The IFAC President, Olivia Kirtley will deliver her keynote speech and participate as the speaker in the session on Inspiring Accountants. Prominent Indonesian stakeholders and international accounting figures are also expected to participate in this international event.
