To provide an organisation for ASEAN Accountants for the further advancement of the status of the profession in the region with the view to establishing an ASEAN philosophy on the accounting profession.
<IR> Implementation in ASEAN: The Time to Start is Now
AFA together with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and CPA Australia successfully co-organised a webinar on Integrated Reporting <IR>: The ASEAN Experience. This was the three organisations’ second collaboration in the space of 12 months, after a successful joint webinar on Improving Public Sector Governance through Financial Reporting in November 2020. 478 participants from around the region joined the 2-hour session, discussing the latest on <IR> and the different experiences of <IR> implementation from the perspectives of PAOs and ASEAN early adopters.
A key part of the webinar was a panel of Jonathan Labrey (Chief Strategy Officer, IIRC), Dr. John Purcell (Policy Adviser, Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance, CPA Australia), Christina Foo (Chair of Audit Committee, KPJ Healthcare Berhad), Irene Sin (Chief Financial Officer, Sunway REIT Management Sdn Bhd), Pauline Ho (Member, MIA Integrated Reporting Steering Committee – IRSC), and moderated by Simon Tay (Executive Director, Professional Practice & Technical, MIA). The panel discussed value propositions and challenges in implementing <IR>, as well as insights into what contributes to a successful <IR> implementation journey.
AFA would like to thank all the speakers, panellists, and moderator for their excellent sharing. The Federation also appreciates the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and CPA Australia for the excellent cooperation in the hosting of the webinar.
