131st AFA Council Meeting

AFA Looks to Enhance Collaboration with Its Member Organisations

The first AFA Council meeting for 2021 was successfully held on April 27, 2021. The virtual meeting was attended by representatives of all 19 AFA member organisations.

AFA President Wan Tin highlighted the importance of collaboration in realising AFA and its member organisations collective aspiration for a stronger ASEAN accountancy profession. It is reflected in the Federations plan for 2021 that includes an array of activities such as the Council meetings and the 22nd AFA Conference, webinars on priority topics for 2021, publications, and participation in various global discussions and stakeholders events and activities.

Among the key items approved by the AFA Council at the meeting were the AFA Working Commitee leadership for 2021-2023 and the AFA Annual Report 2020. The Report will be published soon and available for download in the AFA website.

The meeting also marked another important milestone for AFA, with approval of the AFA Associate membership for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). ICAI (www.icai.org) is the second largest professional body of Chartered Accountants in the world and a key player in many regional and global initiatives relevant to the accountancy profession. AFA looks forward to strengthening its excellent cooperation with ICAI and facilitating learning and sharing between accountants in ASEAN and India.
